Intense training is no problem for most bodybuilders and strength athletes. However, one of the most important factors for maximum muscle growth is neglected by many athletes: regeneration. It's well known that muscles grow during the recovery phase. Only those who recover properly after high-intensity training will achieve optimal progress.

Every athlete expends large amounts of energy during intense physical exertion. Normally, this energy demand is met with carbohydrates. However, once the carbohydrate reserves (glycogen) in the muscles and liver are depleted, the body draws on amino acids for energy. To prevent potential muscle breakdown (catabolism) that may result, the depleted amino acids must be replenished. Furthermore, an optimized intake of high-quality amino acids can improve recovery after strenuous training and support muscle growth.

Amino acids are preferably used when amino acid levels are at risk of dropping. For example, overnight when no food is normally consumed, in the morning immediately after waking up to reach the required levels as quickly as possible, and of course after training.
